It's
Simple!
We’ll explore the ups
and downs of the workings of simple machines along with fun ways to
use “the force” (gravity) that makes our lives so much easier!
Hands-on, bodies-on stuff to provide basic concepts which support any
physical science unit!
Main Concepts:
- Levers
- Screws
- Wedges
- Inclined Planes
- Pulleys
- Gravity
- Friction
Students will learn to recognize
that complex machines are made up of simple machines!
Program requirements:
- One table
and access to electricity
- Open
space for children to sit on the floor
- Students
who need a "science excitement" boost
- Staff
who will take that excitement and use it throughout the rest of the
day
Note:
- Because
Highly Contagious Assemblies are so grade specific, they work best
in grade specific groups (i.e. combine 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 4 and 5
grades).
- Programs
are 45 minutes in length, up to 4 programs at your school in one
day.
